Neil Young, at age 17, performed his first professional date at a country club in Winnipeg.

05/04/1970
Soldiers from the National Guard shot four students dead when they opened fire on a crowd of anti-war demonstrators at Kent State University in Ohio. Neil Young was moved to write a protest song called 'Ohio,' which he recorded with colleagues in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

03/18/1972
Neil Young topped the charts with his song 'Heart of Gold' and it stayed there for one week.

10/13/1975
Neil Young underwent surgery on his vocal chords in Los Angeles CA.

09/30/1989
Neil Young appeared on 'Saturday Night Live' and performed 'Rockin' In The Free World'.

01/14/1995
Pearl Jam performed with Neil Young for a Voters for Choice benefit in Washington.

08/27/1995
Neil Young headlined the Redding Festival with Pearl Jam as his backing band.
