Founded in the summer of 1965 in San Francisco with a sort of folky blues sound, the Jefferson Airplane soon came to epitomize the culture and ethos of the Summer of Love with their breakthrough album Surrealistic Pillow, featuring the smash hits "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love.
