It's Johnny's Birthday
Posted:Tuesday, 10/09/2012 at 04:10am by Greg Easterling
Today is the birthday of John Lennon and we remembered with a side from his 1975 Rock 'N' Roll album at 3am.

In many ways it was a labor of love...John going back and checking off his musical influences: Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and many others. The music itself turned out fine, it was the business side that got messed up with lawsuits and contentious 1973 recording sessions helmed by Phil Spector that yielded only a few songs. Eventually John revisited the project a year later and laid down enough additional songs, self produced to finish the album.

This morning we tracked Side 1 highlighted by John's especially great rendition of "Stand By Me".
