The Bobs have it...Seger and Weir
Posted:Tuesday, 10/16/2012 at 04:10am by Greg Easterling
We began the week yesterday with Bob Seger. In 1980, he was in the midst of quite a successful run that had begun in the mid-Seventies with Night Moves. Several big albums and a lot of touring later, Capitol released Against The Wind in February of 1980. Bob alternated between ballads and rockers, striking a nice balance for yet another commercially successful record. We listened to Side 2 which leads off with the title track; "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight" and "Fire Lake" are also there.

Today is Bob Weir's birthday. Bob, an original member of the Grateful Dead and the longtime singer, rhythm guitarist and songwriter with one of rock's most legendary bands. This morning we tracked a side from one of the Dead's later studio recordings, Go To Heaven, released in the spring of 1980. The album contains the formal recordings of a pair of Dead concert faves, "Alabama Getaway" and "Don't Ease Me In", the latter a traditional tune the Dead had performed since the real early days. We heard it on Side 2 which began with a pair of Bob Weir songs, "Lost Sailor" and "Saint Of Circumstance".
