Happy Birthday Patrick Simmons
Posted:Friday, 10/19/2012 at 04:10am by Greg Easterling
Today is the birthday of Pat Simmons, a founding member of the Doobie Brothers and a very important musical force in that group over the years.

Besides having the longest hair in the band(!),Simmons has been invaluable as a guitarist, harmony/second lead singer and songwriter, responsible for some of the Doobies' sweetest, more acoustic oriented material. Today we had the Doobies' 1974 release, What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits with "Black Water", Simmons' ode to the Mississippi River and one of the band's best loved songs. Other side 1 highlights included "Song To See You Through" and "Eyes of Silver".
