Entertaining with Bad Company

While Bad Company's self titled debut album is a true rock classic that proved impossible for the band to ever really surpass, later Bad Company albums had their moments.

1979's Desolation Angels, named after a Jack Kerouac novel had a number of decent songs including the hit single, "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy". By '79 rock was evolving away from Bad Company's blues based approach while the band seemed to be taking longer and longer between releases. While Desolation Angels was far from the final Bad Company album and not even their last album of new songs with singer Paul Rodgers, in many ways it's turned to be the last Bad Company studio album that's necessary to have, featuring all four original members of the band.

After Paul Rodgers departed, Bad Company would eventually carry on with another lead singer and several albums of new material but it was never really the same even though the later lineups enjoyed some success with original guitarist Mick Ralphs keeping the name alive. In more recent years, Rodgers has returned for reunions with varying lineups of Bad Company, mostly performing their classics. Original bassist Boz Burrell passed away in the last year or two.

We tracked Side 1 of Desolation Angels yesterday morning; highlights included album tracks, "Crazy Circles", "Gone Gone Gone" and "Evil Wind".
