We finished our final full week of Overnight Album Sides for 2012 this morning with Deep Purple.

It was their early 1973 release, Who Do We Think We Are!, the follow-up to the classic Machine Head album. While WDWTWA! doesn't boast an equally historic lineup of songs, the album's opening track, "Woman From Toyko" got plenty of radio play and has been frequently included on the band's setlists ever since.

There wasn't a lot of time to dwell on this one...only a few months later, Deep Purple's record label put out the massive, two record live set, Live In Japan which quickly surpassed Who Do We Think We Are! with its collection of classics from Machine Head in longer, more extravagant versions.

This was also the last stand for the most classic lineup of Deep Purple as both Ian Gillan and Roger Glover would depart before the band returned to the studio with new members David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. Deep Purple Mach II (as the Machine Head era lineup is sometimes referred to) wouldn't reunite until 1984 for the Perfect Strangers album.
