Robin's Birthday
Posted:Wednesday, 01/23/2013 at 03:01am by Greg Easterling
It's the birthday of Robin Zander, longtime lead singer for Cheap Trick. This morning we brought you a side of Cheap Trick At Budokan, the album that broke the band through to a wider audience outside of the midwest where they started, beginning in their hometown of Rockford.

Along the way though, Cheap Trick actually managed to develop a cult following in Japan. At Budokan was originally intended as a favor to their enthusiastic Japanese fans but demand for import copies here in the U.S. convinced Epic Records to make it available domestically as well. That was smart...Cheap Trick At Budokan went on to become a platinum, Top Five record that stayed relatively high on the chart for thirty weeks with a Top Ten single in "I Want You To Want Me". Today we listened to Side 1, highlighted by "Come On, Come On" and the nearly nine minute jam of "Need Your Love".
