Expanding the range of rock with ELP
Posted:Tuesday, 01/29/2013 at 04:01am by Greg Easterling
We carried on this morning with Emerson, Lake and Palmer, one of the so-called "supergroups" of classic rock. Three great musicians from established bands who joined forces to create a whole greater than the sum of its individual parts.

It was Keith Emerson from The Nice, Greg Lake, who was featured on the first King Crimson album and Carl Palmer from Atomic Rooster and the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. The self titled first ELP album was a powerful combination of progressive rock with jazz and classical overtones.

We played Side 1 today dominated by the nearly thirteen minute centerpiece, "Take A Pebble".

There have been ELP reunions over the years, mostly overseas I believe. I don't know that we'll be seeing them all togther again though. Not 100% sure of this but I think Emerson may have some health issues now which would interfere with his participation. Lake still performs solo over in the UK and Europe at least occasionally I think. However Carl Palmer is your best bet...he still tours with Asia and plays well, I've seen them. And I believe he's coming to the Arcada Theatre in Chicago's western suburbs this year with an ELP tribute show. That's probably your best bet at this point. Google the Arcada for more info. Or look at our music/concerts info here at wdrv.com.
