Ray's Birthday
Posted:Thursday, 02/14/2013 at 04:02am by 0
Tuesday was Ray Manzarek's birthday. A founding member and keyboardist for The Doors, Ray is originally from Chicago and attended both St. Rita High School and DePaul University. He eventually headed out to California to enroll in UCLA's film school where he met Jim Morrison.

We featured The Doors' fourth album, The Soft Parade, an attempt by the band's producer and record label to integrate brass and strings into the Doors' tradmark sound. This was only marginally successful although the single "Touch Me" was one of the band's biggest hits. Ultimately it was a direction the Doors did not pursue on their final two records with Jim, Morrison Hotel and L.A. Woman. We listened to Side 2 this time featuring the title track and "Wild Child".
