Back to the Beginings of Chicago

We finished up the week this morning by paying tribute to our most successful onetime hometown band, Chicago.

On this date in 1967, the original members decided to band together as The Big Thing, a name which was later discarded in favor of Chicago Transit Authority. Eventually the name was shortened to just Chicago perhaps to ward off legal action from the local public transit system which was said to be less than thrilled that a bunch of long haired musicians had co-opted the CTA moniker. The final name change happened after the band relocated to Los Angeles and before Chicago II was released.

We tracked Side 1 of the self titled Chicago Transit Authority double record set this morning...the near seamless flow of "Introduction" to "Does Anybody Really Know What Time Is It" and "Beginnings".
