Live Genesis
Posted:Thursday, 02/28/2013 at 04:02am by Greg Easterling
We're featuring Genesis today as part of our Thursday Artist Portrait. This time, our choice was Seconds Out, recorded live in concert circa 1976-77 spotlighting the post-Peter Gabriel lineup with Phil Collins stepping up on lead vocals. The rest of the band(Banks, Rutherford, Hackett) was intact with drummers Chester Thompson and the celebrated Bill Bruford(Yes, UK) helping Collins out in the percussion section.

On Seconds Out, Genesis reaches back for a number of Gabriel era classics, proving they're still equal to that material while presenting music from their fine post Gabriel efforts, Trick Of The Tail and Wind and Wuthering.
We tracked Side 4 this time with the earlier "Cinema Show" followed by the then more current "Dance On A Volcano".

I heard the Overnight Album Side of Seconds Out by Genesis this morning and enjoyed it. My older brothers had the album on 8-track back when it was brand new, and I used to listen to it with them back then when I was a little kid. The songs on there brought back so many memories from that time. Seconds Out by Genesis is a great live album, and I really enjoy it.
