New Month, New Attitude
Posted:Monday, 07/01/2013 at 04:07am by Greg Easterling
We began the month of July this morning with Dire Straits, a band with a sound that was a breath of fresh air when they first appeared in the late Seventies. Neither punk nor new wave, Dire Straits forged an original direction based on the guitar sound of band leader Mark Knopfler.

Their late 1983 release Love Over Gold found Dire Straits expanding a bit with more extended jams..."Telegraph Road" clocks in at over 14 minutes...as well as the more exotic subject matter found in songs like "Private Investigations" and "Industrial Disease". We listened to Side 1 this time.
