'Aldo Leopold -- A Standard of Change' Play
A one-man play written by and starring storyteller Jim Pfitzer, 'Aldo Leopold -- A Standard of Change' takes place on one evening in and around the famous Wisconsin shack that inspired much of Leopold's writing. Aldo Leopold was an educator, philosopher, forester, ecologist and wilderness advocate, and the play explores the influences and challenges that led him to pen his widely popular book, 'A Sand County Almanac.' Come out and join The Drive Crew at Dunkin' Donuts in Mt. Prospect on Friday from 7a-9a and help support Cop on a Rooftop!
For the 11th year in a row, Illinois police officers will stake out Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.
On Friday, May 31, from 5 a.m. to early afternoon, hundreds of police officers from throughout the state are scheduled to cover more than 150 Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Be sure to stop by and support local efforts in your area!
The stakes for this year's rooftop stakeout are high ... donations will need to top last year's total of more than $235,000 raised at 130 Dunkin' Donuts locations.
In return for the police officers doing time at their stores, Dunkin' Donuts will donate $15,000 to the Torch Run fund. In addition, everyone who visits a Cop on a Rooftop store that day and makes a donation to the Torch Run will receive a free donut. Individuals who donate at least $10 will receive a Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug (while supplies last) and a coupon for a free medium coffee. Other items, such as Torch Run T-shirts and hats, will be sold for various donation amounts, and other activities may vary by Dunkin' Donuts location.

With the 2012 releases of Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, it might seem that there has been a recent a run on movies showcasing the 16th President of the United States. In fact, these films just continue a 100 year legacy of Abraham Lincoln as star of the big and small screen. 'Lincoln in Film and Television,' a new exhibit at the Civil War Museum done in conjunction with Racine Lincoln collector and author Steven Rogsted, shows the history of Lincoln as portrayed in film and on television using a variety of artifacts, images, books and movie posters.
