Lincoln Park Zoo Hosts Bone Marrow Registry Drive
Lincoln Park Zoo is inviting Chicagoans to join the bone marrow registry and be a hero for a hero. The drive is being hosted in honor of Roy Chelsen a New York City firefighter who was a first responder to the World Trade Center attack. He has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a fatal immune system cancer. A bone marrow transplant could save his life. Registration is easy! A consent form is filled out to acknowledge a willingness to donate if a match is made. Then a swab of the cheek is taken and the tissue type is added to the registry. Tickets are now on sale for the Mount Prospect Historical Society's 22nd annual Holiday Housewalk which will highlight the historic first blocks of North Pine and North Wille Streets. The walk will be held from 3:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4. The interiors of seven private homes will be featured on the tour this year. Tour-goers will pick up their programs at St. John Episcopal Church, 200 N. Main St. There will also be refreshments, exhibits and raffles going on there and St. John's will be holding their annual Cookie Walk. Hope Fest Benefit for Kelsey & Karly Koch
