African-American Read-In in Kenosha
Poetry, short stories and children's books by African-American authors will be read by adults and children from the community during the 2012 African-American Read-In from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Kenosha Public Museum. The 'National African-American Read-In' is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English and its Black Caucus, and 2012 is the 23rd anniversary of this event. People interested in participating should make reservations by Jan. 30 with Nancy Mathews by calling 653-4426. The public is welcome to attend and listen to the stories.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate in Kenosha
Hear parts of one of the most famous set of debates in United States history, those between Lincoln and Douglas, at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 12 at the Civil War Museum. Timothy Connors and George Buss will re-enact portions of the 1858 debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. Connors and Buss, veteran interpreters, also will discuss the 1860 Presidential election in which Lincoln and Douglas were candidates. Concert for HOPE

Writers' Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, continues its 20th Anniversary Season with The Caretaker by Harold Pinter, directed by Ron OJ Parson.
