Firefall

Springing from the '60-'70s country-rock scene that launched the careers of artists includng Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and more, Firefall started in Colorado and spent much of the '70s racking up hit after hit.

The original lineup included former Byrd/Burrito Brother Michael Clarke on drums, singer/guitarist/songwriter Rick Roberts (also an ex-Burrito), bassist Mark Andes, singer/guitarist/songwriter Larry Burnett, guitarist/vocalist Jock Bartley, and keyboardist David Muse; the group took its name from a Yosemite tourist spectacle Roberts witnessed as a youth. Firefall had three gold albums, one of which went on to platinum status, but by the end of the '70s internal strife, personality conflicts, and the '70s in general had taken their toll on the band, which eventually disintegrated. In later years Bartley put together a new lineup, which continues to record sporadically and tour on the oldies circuit.
