Aerosmith
In 1970, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry met while working in an ice cream parlor in New Hampshire. Shortly thereafter they joined forces with bassist Tom Hamilton in the first incarnation of what was to become one of the longest-running and most successful bands in rock 'n' roll. Amid numerous personnel changes, substance problems, and self-reinventions, Aerosmith have released numerous gold and platinum albums; they pioneered a lean, mean style that continues to find an enthusiastic following in frequent new outings. After a series of blockbusters in the late '70s, the band fell into relative obscurity; they made a dramatic comeback when rappers Run-D.M.C. had a huge hit with the Aerosmith classic "Walk This Way," featuring a guest appearance by the original artists. The band continues to record, tour, and chart, most recently with 2001's Just Push Play.
