Seals And Crofts
Singer/multi-instrumentalists Jim Seals (brother of singer Dan Seals) and Dash Crofts enjoyed a period of huge popularity for several years in the mid-'70s, but they'd actually been playing together in various lineups in the L.A. area since the late '50s. Finally in 1969 they formed a duo focused on their songwriting skills, their generally upbeat outlook, and their gorgeous harmonies.
The two were (and are to this day) devotees of the Baha'i faith, and much of their music was tinged with encouragement for spiritual seekers and a generally sunny outlook on life.
Eventually musical fashions changed, and the two retired to their religious and other pursuits. They periodically reunite and record, most recently 2004's Traces, which includes new versions of some of their classics.
