Bachman - Turner Overdrive
After guitarist Randy Bachman left the Guess Who, he eventually joined forces with former Guess Who bandmate Chad Allan, bassist C.F. "Fred" Turner, and his own brother, drummer Robbie, in a metal group originally called Brave Belt. The band didn't have any real success, and Allan left in 1972, to be replaced by another Bachman, Tim. Around the same time, the group changed its name to Bachman-Turner Overdrive, releasing a new album of the same name in 1973. While that one went nowhere, its successor, Bachman-Turner Overdrive II, was a smash, spawning the hit single "Takin' Care of Business." The next album, 1974's Not Fragile, topped the album chart and also had a #1 single with "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet." Randy Bachman left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career. Confusion ensued later when he toured with a band called "Bachman-Turner Overdrive" while brother Robbie toured with "BTO," generating more work for lawyers.
