Derek And The Dominos
After his forays in Cream and Blind Faith, and around the same time his first solo album appeared, guitarist Eric Clapton put together a band recruited from members of country-blues rockers Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. With legendary Southern-rock guitarist Duane Allman sitting in, the band went into the studio in London and recorded the double album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which from that day to this has been one of the legendary rock albums of all time. It's also the only studio album they ever recorded, though the band would tour (without Allman, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971) and release a live album. By 1971 the band had disintegrated without recording a follow-up to Layla, although a 1990 box set featured the studio recordings and outtakes for the album.
