Joe Walsh
Guitar ace and off-the-wall singer/songwriter Joe Walsh has achieved considerable fame both as a solo artist and with two successful groups, the James Gang and The Eagles. He joined the former in 1969 upon leaving Kent State University, and stayed with them as frontman through three hit albums, culminating with Thirds and its classic single, "Walk Away." After that he launched a solo career in the early '70s, and was doing well at it when The Eagles recruited him in 1976 to replace the departing Bernie Leadon. He made his official debut on Hotel California while continuing with his solo career and releasing his highest-charting tune, the comic rock-star self-portrait "Life's Been Good" -- and also running (unsuccessfully) for president. He played on The Eagles' 1979 finale, The Long Run, and had more solo hits with "All Night Long" and "A Life of Illusion" in the early '80s. Since then he's continued to record and tour as a solo act, as well as hitting the road as part of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band and with The Eagles in their Hell Freezes Over reunion tour.
