Gregg Allman

Gregg Allman's solo career has always been somewhat eclipsed by his frontman position in the Allman Brothers Band, where his powerful, sometimes screaming vocals and ferocious keyboard playing have long been hallmarks of the guitar-intensive band's sound. But he's enjoyed modest success on his own with softer, more gospel-tinged work, notably with his hit 1977 release, Playin' Up a Storm. While his subsequent solo work has never matched that of the band, he still tours and plays with various other configurations from time to time.
