38 Special

Don Barnes is the consummate musician. He is a gifted singer, songwriter, performer, guitarist, instrumentalist, and producer. However, his talent is not merely the result of inherent genius, but of years of persistence, determination, self-discipline, sweat, and good old-fashioned hard work. In essence, Don is a self-made man. As a seasoned music veteran, Don is one of those exceptional artists who continue to improve over time. He still possesses the passion, skills, and confidence needed to excel in the ever-changing musical landscape. Always one to challenge himself, and driven to perfection, Don's soulful vocals, prolific songwriting, and red-hot guitar-playing have never been better. Offstage, there is more to Don Barnes than meets the eye. He is as witty, intelligent, and personable as he is talented. Although his love for music is consistently apparent, it is his appreciation of the fans that leaves a lasting impression. DonnieDonnie VanZant is truly a rock-and-roll showman. Whether he's flying through a stadium like Superman, racing across a stage like a tornado, or inciting an audience into mass hysteria, Donnie's high-energy, onstage antics make every show a heart-pounding experience. He leaps, twirls, and jumps in a frenzied ballet, mesmerizing the crowd with his endless bag of tricks. Donnie's engaging personality and spirited performance garners the attention, and appreciation, of every fan in the house. Donnie is also a compelling vocalist and experienced songwriter, having penned such songs as "Backdoor Stranger," "Rebel to Rebel," and "Homeless Guitar." In addition to his work with 38 Special, Donnie's latest projects are a collaborative effort with his brother, Johnny, of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame called Brother to Brother and VanZant II. You can learn more about these talented brothers on their own site..... TheVanZants.com DannyIt has been said that the mark of a great guitarist is their ability to create their own signature sound. Since 1987, Danny Chauncey's unique style has contributed to the continuing success of 38 Special. A guitar virtuoso, Danny exhibits his technical prowess with precision and class. Preferring substance over show, Danny plays with deliberate cool. His simple, uncluttered technique speaks more of soul and feel than flamboyance and speed. In addition to his role as guitarist, Danny is a remarkable songwriter and producer. He has earned the respect of both audiences and critics alike. Danny always has time for the fans, visiting and signing autographs after the show. His innate ability to relate to the younger crowd will, no doubt, serve as an inspiration to many future guitarists. It is this unassuming attitude, combined with his extraordinary talent, that has made Danny an integral part of 38 Special. The Big man with the Big Bass!... "When he puts it down, it STAYS down!!!" LJHaving honed his craft at an early age, Larry Junstrom was the initial bass player for the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd band. Since then, Larry's monstrous bass and thundering power chords have been the backbone of 38 Special's popular sound. Always focusing on the groove, Larry plays with awesome sound and articulation. His immense tone and amazing feel make an audience sit up and take notice. Not one for the spotlight, Larry prefers to let his snarling, powerful 4-string speak for itself On a personal level, Larry is a simple, easy-going man who really makes the fans feel at home. When he's not on the road or in the studio, Larry is a major ham radio enthusiast. His call letters are K4EB, meaning Known For Electric Bass. Larry enjoys the Internet, as well, where he is the Web Master Extraordinaire of his own site. The man pounding the boards! Having played throughout Florida's local club scene, Arkansas native Bobby Capps has found his home as keyboardist and vocalist for 38 Special. Since 1991, Bobby's contributions have helped round out the band's distinctive southern sound. Although he usually provides backup vocals, Don and Donnie graciously hand over the reigns for the song, "Second Chance." A staple of the band's live medley, "Second Chance" gives Bobby the opportunity to really show his chops. Bobby Capps & Ean Evans Debut Their New CD "LAST TIME" with the official release planned for APRIL 25th. Bobby and Ean have been working in the studio writing and recording when time allowed, since both musicians have full-time jobs with two of Southern Rock's legendary bands: Evans is the bass player for Lynyrd Skynyrd, while Capps plays keyboards in 38 Special. Check out EVANSCAPPS.COM for more info and to order the CD. As if he were not busy enough already, Bobby fronts his own band in his DownTime. GaryAs the newest member of 38 Special, drummer Gary Moffatt has quickly gained the favor and admiration of the band's die-hard supporters. He is one of the few percussionists who can entertain a crowd with an extended drum solo. Gary's electrifying, skin-pounding talents even "scare" Donnie - a compliment, to be sure. His tight fills and steely-hard backbeats are the foundation of 38's hard-driving rhythms. Despite his intimidating, massive presence, Gary is a humble, friendly man who enjoys meeting the fans. While Gary is off the road he is involved with an original project called Rule Of 7 Visit the site to hear sound clips we are sure you will enjoy. Gary has recently complete work on an instructional video for Drum School This amazing video is for drummers of all levels. Gary demonstrates the ultimate goal...he utilizes all the sticking patterns and hand & foot combinations contained throughout this video. Gary shows you how to apply these exercises to music. He adds his own personal technique and style to his performance. Gary also displays his versatility around the drum kit, by playing a few different styles of music. The music Gary performs encompasses a wide variety of styles ranging from Funk to driving Progressive Rock with numerous timing changes, feels, and moods. This video is a MUST HAVE if you are learning to play the drums. Endorsements: PEARL Drums, EVANS Drumheads, SABIAN Cymbals, VIC FIRTH Drumsticks, AUDIX Microphones, & GROOVEJUICE
