I don't really believe all the hype about the Eagles being the visionaries to see through all the glitz and plastic of the 1970's. They were a product of David Geffen, like a lot of rock stars, but this album, in a historical perspective, is a dead on examination of the decadance and over indulgence of the sex and drugs of the era. Whether that was purposeful or empircal is left to be seen.
