In 1997, I was approached about putting out a CD for charity that would appeal to the fans of Rock 'N Roll Roots. It was supposed to be a one-time deal and we weren't even sure how well the one CD would be received because we knew there were already a lot of great compilation CD's out there. Well, ten volumes later you have an idea of how successful it's been. Not only did that first volume sell out quickly, listeners began suggesting songs for the next volume and showed enough interest to make it happen again and again. I'm extremely proud on several levels of how this series has developed over the years. It's kept true to our Chicago roots by making it a point to include songs on every volume that were local favorites. We've been fortunate enough through perseverance and determination to clear the rights for several songs that had never before been released on CD in the U.S.A. We've raised $100,000 for charities that are the lifeblood of future musicians. And, most of all we've done it together as a true Stroud Crowd production with the input and support of listeners like you, and the talents of legendary Chicago icons from the golden age of Top 40.
