In the ultimate book of Who's Who, they'll go down as the inventor of the rock anthem and the guys who introduced the concept of smashing guitars. The primal force of a mod generation, they amped up rock and introspection simultaneously; creating what one of their own members now refers to as "a melting pot of self-obsessive lunacy." Whatever you want to call it in retrospect, at the time, it was the rawest, purest expression of discovery, emotion...and frustration and it resonated with a youth ready for change.
