My recent visit to the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago was with my family, but anyone looking for an extremely cool time should check out this classic lakefront Chicago destination and all of its new offerings. Sure, you learn plenty, but you also have so much fun and get so absorbed in the exhibits. It's a million miles from dry, textbook learning. It's fun.

The current Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit is a perfect example. You get to visit the animator's desk, see the sketches and the specially made cameras that led to iconic classics like 1937's Snow White (the first full color hand drawn animated feature, by the way). You'll see Disney wardrobes, such as Captain Jack's getup from Pirates of the Caribbean, Mary Poppin's carpet bag and ultimately, Disney's many earned Oscars and Emmys.

During my visit, we took the WOW tour, from hatching chicks, to remote controlling the landing gear on a real airplane hovering above a city landscape replica with constantly running trains and more. The behind- the- scene's peek on the museum's Omni Max Theatre was fabulous too.

The coal mine, the National Geographic Earth Explorers exhibit (where my daughter solved the puzzle!), the U-505 sub; yes, the amazement abounded, right up to their awesome food court with delicious, reasonably priced and plentiful food choices.

At the end, sure we were tired, but it was that GOOD tired!
